Gudibanda, Anantapur: Suspecting an extra-marital affair, a man killed his wife by smashing her head with a boulder. The incident took place on Friday night at Chigaturpi village, Gudibanda mandal in Anantapur district. The deceased Shilpa (26) was married to Pathanayaka seven years ago. They had two children Swathi (6) and Praveen (4). After their marriage, he started suspecting her ways which often lead to fights at home. Two days ago, they had an argument after which the couple went to her mother's place in Chigaturpi along with the children.

After dinner, around 11 pm, Pathanayaka hit Shilpa with a stone while she was asleep . When Shilpa started screaming, he escaped from there. Her family members shifted her to a Bengaluru hospital but she died on her way. Based on a complaint given by the victim's mother, the police filed a case and arrested Pathanayaka. On Friday night at around 9 pm, he hoodwinked the police and escaped from the police station also . The police have sent out search teams to locate Pathanayaka.

Recently, in a similar incident, a man killed his wife suspecting her involvement in an extra-marital affair. He also severely injured his mother-in-law. The incident took place on Friday at Rayachoti. The deceased was identified as Ganga Devi (29) and her mother Mallamma (48). She was shifted to Rayachoti government hospital and later the doctors referred her to Tirupati hospital but she died. The couple have two sons, Teja Sri (7) and Srinath (4).

The accused Anjaneyulu (32) lived in Gulf about 10 years and used to come home once in two years. He came home two months ago and after some time, started suspecting that his wife was having an affair with someone. The couple had been fighting for some time on this, the locals said.

On Friday, a heated argument broke out between the couple. During the fight, an enraged Anjaneyulu battered his wife with a hammer, killing her. When the woman's mother Mallamma tried to stop him, he attacked her too. Ganga Devi was killed on the spot while Mallamma sustained severe injuries.

Pulivendula DSP Nagaraju and Rayachoti Rural CI Narasimhulu reached the spot on Friday evening and examined the place of the crime. They collected the details from the locals. SI Reddy reached the spot and shifted the victim to hospital. The accused Vallapu Anjaneyulu was taken into police custody and the police are interrogating him.
