Depressed Over Campus Interviews, Student Hangs Herself 

Hyderabad: Depressed over campus interviews, a 20-year-old student committed suicide by hanging herself on Wednesday night at Hyderabad. The deceased was identified as Pragathi Palaniswamy pursuing her final year engineering at TRK college. She was a resident of Huda colony.

According to the police, Pragathi's parents had gone for Tamil Nadu a week ago to attend a family event. Pragathi was alone at her uncle's house.

Sub-inspector of Meerpet said, "As her parents left to Tamil Nadu, Pragathi was staying at her maternal uncle's house. On Wednesday, she told her uncle that she was going for college and left the house. When she didn't return till the evening, her uncle went to her house and found Pragathi hanging."

With the help of locals, he shifted her to a nearby hospital but the doctors declared that she was brought dead. The police sent the body to Gandhi hospital for post-mortem and filed a case under section IPC 174.

Recently, in a similar incident, depressed over losing her cell phone, A 10th class girl committed suicide. The incident took place on Thursday at Mysuru, Karnataka. The deceased Nikhita (16) was in her 10th class in a private school at Gayatripuram.

On Wednesday after a conversation with her brother Babloo, she found her mobile missing. Since the phone was gifted by her beloved father, she felt depressed losing it and committed suicide by hanging herself when she was alone at the house. The police filed a case and started probing the matter.
