Bengaluru: The Konankunte police on Thursday evening shot at two people and arrested a killer hours after he committed a murder case. The accused had stabbed members of his rival gang at Weavers colony.

The accused Manjunath (34), a rowdy sheeter had killed Murugan (34) and Palani (30) at Weavers colony on Bannerghatta road while they were on their way home from a bar.

According to the police, the accused had chased the two and stabbed them to death near a bar with the help of his associates. The CCTV camera has the footage of entire incident. Murugan and Palani are natives of Tamil Nadu and used to live with their families at weavers colony. They were both into anti-social activities.

Manjunath, who was also a rowdy sheeter, got jealous of his opponents. Often, clashes would erupt between the gangs. On Wednesday night, Murugan and Palani came out of the bar along with their associates when Manjunath's gang which lay in wait attacked them with sharp weapons and killed them.

Annamali, DCP south formed three special teams led by ACP T Mahadeva to nab the criminals. On a tip-off he went to Anjanapura forest area from where Manjunath was planning to escape to Tamil Nadu.

The police asked him to surrender, but he attacked them and injured SI Subramani with a knife. Immediately, the police fired two rounds at his legs and took him to custody. They shifted him to hospital for treatment. The police booked a double murder case against Manjunath and a hunt is on to nab his associates.
