Narasaraopet town: TDP leader and businessman Kapilavayi VijayKumar was arrested here on friday by one town police and was sent to remand in connection with a sensational Kidney racket case.

According to police reports a person named Chigurupati Nageshwar Rao hailing from Chandramouli Nagar was admitted to a private hospital in Guntur following pain in his kidney. He was asked by the doctors to secure a kidney donor for him. The patient worked out a deal with Mudavath Venkateshwarlu a resident of Mutukuru village, Durgi Mandal with the latter accepting to donate one of his kidneys.

Ravuri Ravi is a resident of Narasaraopeta, his aadhar card was used with Venkateshwarlu’s picture on it to seek permission. In October last year, they got permission from the revenue department. When police permission was sought for the same, the bar code on the card was scanned for details only to realise it was duplicate. Police informed revenue department that the card had been morphed. The then Tahasildar CH Vijaya Jyoti Kumari complained about it at the one town police station, where a cheating case was filed.

Later Vijaya Jyoti Kumari gave a statement to police stating Kapilavayi Vijay Kumar had forced her to grant permission for the operation. A case was filed against VijayKumar. During the investigation police also learned that donor Venkateshwarlu was also threatened by VijayKumar. The police later changed the case to an atrocity case.

Already, eight people have been arrested and sent to remand in the same case. VijayKumar is the 9th person to be arrested on Friday and was produced before the court, judge remanded him to custody. Later, the health condition of VijayKumar deteriorated, said the jail officials and shifted him to the local health center. Kapilavayi Vijaykumar is the current head of state gold, silver trade association and also a local TDP leader. To protest against his arrest all the gold shop owners closed their shops locally.
