Chennai: A complaint has been filed with Madurai City police seeking action against an accused in several cases, Bullet Natarajan, for threatening to assassinate Madurai Central Prison Superintendent Urmila. According to sources, the Superintendent received a death threat in the form of an audio clip on WhatsApp, according to which, Urmila and a medical officer in the jail would be killed. The WhatsApp audio message was making rounds on social media since the past few days.

The prison officials filed a complaint with Commissioner of Police Davidson Devasirvatham, seeking action against the accused. As per the police, Natarajan has been booked under several robbery and theft cases across the State. The accused's elder brother Ramesh alias Murugan was imprisoned until August 28 in connection with a case pertaining to his wife's murder. After getting released from the prison, Ramesh had reportedly complained about the jail officials' harassment.

In the audio clip, Natarajan claims to have enjoyed all kinds of illegal facilities inside all jails of Tamil Nadu. He even says that he had access to mobile phones and that he was supplied marijuana, in return for bribing the jail officers. Natarajan goes on to say that Urmila's age was less the number of days he had spent in the prison.

"Every jail officer has to come out of the prison. I had murdered a jailor named Jaya Prakash in the past. If the two of you do not change, you may have to lose lives in road accidents," he said in the audio message.
