Hyderabad: After trapping film actresses and systematically operating a prostitution racket in city's star hotels, Janardhan Rao alias Jani is the most wanted offender in Hyderabad police list. This offender was arrested by North Zone police on Saturday in a raid conducted at a star hotel while a Bhojpuri actress was rescued and a Lieutenant Colonel of Army was also taken into custody.

It may be recalled that the North Zone police had raided two star hotels in Punjagutta and Banjara Hills in December last year wherein they arrested two people involved in prostitution racket while Telugu film and Bengali TV actresses were rescued. Even in this case Jani was the most wanted offender. Luring the actresses by promising roles in films, Jani would trap them. He later sent their photos through WhatsApp to the customers and operated business in star hotels.

Jani is a native of Ramachandrapuram in East Godavari and was living in Padmaraongar in Hyderabad. He had been carrying on murky business prostitution since 2010 and was arrested on three occasions. There are cases filed against him in Punjagutta, Banjara Hills and Chandanagar police stations and is the most wanted offender in few other cases. He had been operating with the help of Venkat Rao and Monisha, natives of Guntur. While the two were arrested in December, Jani escaped.

Jani was notorious in trapping Telugu, Hindi, Bhojpuri and Bengali film actresses. He also managed to get TV artistes from Mumbai and Kolkata. He trapped gullible girls on the pretext of giving roles in films. He, along with his supporters, formed 40-50 WhatsApp groups and would operate within them. After trapping the actress, her photo would be immediately circulated among the groups.

Based on the demand for a girl, he would bring them to the city and place in a star hotel. He would strike a deal with the customer at the hotel lobby itself. With police not raiding star hotels they seem to have chosen these places as safe havens to operate their business.
