Chilkur Balaji Temple Features on CNN

Hyderabad: Chilkur Balaji temple also called "visa" Balaji, a must among students and professionals aiming for a visa, has been featured on the international news channel Cable News Network (CNN).

Tradition has it that a devottee has to perform 11 pradakshinas (circumambulations) around the sanctum sactorum of the 500-year-old temple with a wish and after the wish is fulfilled 108 pradakshinas (circumambulations) have to be performed. Speaking to CNN, priest S Rangarajan said a large number of Indian students credit their visit to foreign shores to the temple. "Since many students and job-seekers owe their getting visa to the presiding deity, the temple earned the unique name of visa Balaji," he said.
