Black Panther Is Unstoppable At The Box Office

Black Panther, starring Chadwick Boseman, is unstoppable at the box office with a record fifth-largest opening collection of all time. The film already minted over 192 million dollars. Industry analysts say that the film is on track to race past the 218-million-dollar mark. If that happens than it will the highest grosser only behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi in terms of weekend collections.

"Black Panther" has raced past "The Dark Knight" and "Iron Man" to earn the best aggregated score on Rotten Tomatoes of any live-action superhero film. The Ryan Coogler-directed film's score is currently at 97 per cent. Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" and Jon Favreau's "Iron Man" are tied at 94 per cent.

The film, starring Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa/Black Panther, Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B Jordon, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Basset, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis and Martin Freeman, is already a winner at the box office.

Marvel Studios "Black Panther", featuring Chadwick Boseman as the superhero, has registered an opening collection of over Rs 7 crore in India. The film released in India in English and Hindi on Friday. "The gross box office collection as of day one is Rs 7.18 crore (including paid previews)," read a statement.

"Black Panther" is among the first films by the house of Marvel Studios which predominantly has a black cast and also shows a number of strong women of substance who work as the protagonist T'Challa's (Boseman) allies. Set shortly after "Captain America: Civil War", "Black Panther" shows T'Challa returning home to the isolated, technologically-advanced African nation of Wakanda to become king. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, "Black Panther" is projected to make at least $170 million in its opening weekend in the US.
