Hyderabad: A 28-year-old woman who was working as an RJ in Radio Charminar was found dead at her house in Bollarum on Monday. She was the wife of Army Major Vaishnav Vishal Sharma who is posted here and is alleged to have harassed his wife forcing her to commit suicide, according to family.

Nobody at her office had any clue as her phone was switched off since last Tuesday. The incident came to light after family members approached the police alleging that it was a murder.

"She had told a female colleague that she was fed up with her life," said Abdul Samad, a member of the Radio Charminar staff. “She did not come to office from Tuesday. We tried to contact her, but her phone was off. We did not know what happened until her sister filed a complaint this week,” Mr Samad added

Sandhya Singh, a native of Ghaziabad in Uttarpradesh was married to Vaishnav Vishal Sharma in September 2015. As it was a love marriage the couple lived happily for sometime but later on Vishal demanded his wife to bring huge dowry. He used to torture her regularly for dowry, which she can't afford. Sandhya, who was fed up with her husband's harassment decided to end her life. On April 18, she committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan.

Family members from Ghaziabad arrived at Sandhya's house in Bollarum after learning about her death. Sandhya's sister Ramya lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Vishal killed her sister and made it look like a suicide.

On learning that a case was filed in his name Vishal fled away from the house and got admitted in the army hospital, claiming chest pain. When police went to inquire, they were not allowed inside as it was an Army region.
