YS Jagan Over Change Of Name Of Abdul Kalam Awards

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed his ire over the education department authorities who took the decision of changing name of an award scheme named after former President APJ Abdul Kalam, and replacing it with his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy's name.

The Chief Minister lashed out at the concerned officials for taking such a decision without bringing it to his notice and ordered them to immediately cancel the GO of naming Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Pratibha Vidya Puraskar as YSR Vidya Puraskar.

YS Jagan suggested the officials to continue the awards distribution, which is given to Class 10 students for outstanding academic performance in their final exams with the same name on November 11, which happens to be the birth anniversary of Abul Kalam Azad.

YS Jagan has also suggested the officials to name the other awards distributed by AP state government with the names of great leaders of the country like Mahatma Gandhi, Jyotirao Phule, Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram.
