VIJAYAWADA: TDP senior leader Varla Ramaiah has resigned to the post of APSRTC chairman and sent a resignation letter to the Principal Secretary of AP Transport on Saturday. Earlier, Andhra Pradesh government has issued a notice to TDP leader, asking him to quit from the post within a month, as he holds the post without resigning though his term ended on April 24, 2019.
According to the Road Transport Corporation protocol, the term for a Chairman is one year. He was appointed as Chairman by the former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) regime.
Finally, Ramaiah resigned five months after the TDP government's disastrous failure in the AP 2019 assembly elections.
In September, Chief Secretary of the Transport, RTC MD Krishnababu issued a notice in accordance with sub-clause 2 of Section 8 of the APSRTC 1950 Act, asking him to resign from his post.
