1. Uncovering TDP’s Corruption: Cabinet Committee To Submit Report In 45 Days

The Cabinet Sub-Committee, constituted to review the various policy decisions taken by the past TDP government in the last five years, will submit its report in 45 days. The Committee will look into 30 major issues in wake of large scale allegations of corruption that marked the Chandrababu Naidu's regime.

2. Five Killed In Guntur Road Accident

Five people including two children and a woman were killed in a horrific road accident near Chilakaluripet in Guntur district, on Monday morning. As per reports, eleven people were travelling in an SUV that crashed into a stationary lorry near Chilakaluripet. Five of them including the driver died on the spot. The victims, who belonged to Sabbavaripalem at Palakollu in West Godavari district, were returning after having darshan at Tirumala.

3. Vijayawada Man Sets Himself Ablaze Over Loan Burden

Reeling under the pressure of loans, a businessman set himself on fire. The man, identified as Lakshman Rao was rushed to a private medical hospital in Vijayawada but he succumbed to the burns while undergoing treatment on Saturday. According to the police, Lakshman Rao was running a transport business and had borrowed money from private money lenders, Sarada and Ameer.

In Anantapur district alone, in the last three years, the child welfare department’s helpline number 1098 had received 1994 complaints of child marriages. Government officials and non-government organisations succeeded in stopping 1,719 marriages by intervening in time either before the marriage or during the nuptials itself. But a senior official within the department said, the number of complaints received were a fraction of real story.
