Kurnool: The passengers of a private travels bus had a narrow escape as it caught fire in the wee hours of Thursday. The incident took place on the Hyderabad-Bangalore highway near Enugumarrui village of Pyapili Mandal in Kurnool district.
According to the details, the private travels bus belonged to Yellow travels and was heading from Hyderabad to Bengaluru.
Noticing the smell of burnt plastic emanating from the rear end of the bus, the passengers seated in the back row, informed the driver, who stopped the vehicle on the roadside to check the issue. However, as the flames spread, he alerted the passengers and asked them to get down. The flames engulfed the bus within no time and the vehicle was completely gutted in fire, reduced to ashes.
None of the 53 passengers, who boarded the bus sustained any injuries. The police and fire tenders were called in and the flames were doused. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The police made arrangements for the passengers to travel to Hyderabad.
