Vijayawada: Complying with the orders of the state High Court, police registered a case against TDP MLA from Vijayawada Central, Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao and his son, Bonda Siva. The Court orders came following a petition filed by the mother of Saisri who died two years ago. The youth's mother, Sumanasri accused the TDP MLA and his son of being responsible for Saisri's death and sought action against them. Responding to her appeal, the High Court ordered the Vijayawada police to book a case against MLA Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao and his son, Bonda Siva.

It was then that the police, complying with the orders of the Court, filed a case against the legislator and his son. The victim's mother, Sumanasri had earlier met the Commissioner of Police of Vijayawada in this regard.

The Vijayawada Central MLA representing the ruling TDP has been accused by locals and YSR Congress Party leaders of land-grabbing, involvement in sand mining and using strong-arm methods. Chandrababu Naidu has rewarded the sitting MLA with a ticket for re-election from the Vijayawada Central seat. Bonda Uma faces off against Malladi Vishnu of the YSR Congress Party.
