AP Government Cancels Toll Tax For Sankranthi 

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has canceled collection of toll tax across the state on January 13 and 16 to prevent traffic jams at toll gates. This move by AP comes after the Telangana state authority did the same.

In the festive season, people go to their native places from the cities. About 30 lakh people left Hyderabad for their native towns and villages, this festive season. The collection of toll tax leads to long queues of vehicles at toll plazas. With the number of vehicles increasing this year, the time taken to travel also increases.

This festive season the bus and railway stations were filled with passengers. However, the special services run by both state transport corporations could not cater to the needs of the people. Also, the South Central Railways ran several special trains from Hyderabad this festival season.
