CPS Poll Predicts Comfortable Victory For YSR Congress Party In Assembly

YSRCP is expected to win 133-135 seats in 175-member Assembly

Hyderabad: The post-poll survey of the Centre for Psephology Studies estimated that YSR Congress Party will emerge victorious comfortably by securing 133 to135 seats in 175-member Assembly. The TDP is set to face a drubbing with its tally reducing to 37 to 40 seats. Actor-turned politician Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena may not make any impact as his tally would be between zero and two seats. The pollster predicted a tight contest in five Assembly segments.

According to CPS, YSR Congress Party will garner 50.1 per cent of the popular vote across the State. The TDP on the other hand is expected to get 40.2 per cent, Janasena 7.3 per cent and others 2.6 per cent.

The same trend is also reflected in the exit polls conducted by CPS. With 50.1 per cent popular vote in its kitty, YSRCP is expected to secure 130 to 133 seats and TDP 43-44 seats with 40.2 per cent popular vote.

The CPS has been in the scene of predicting and announcing exit polls since 2006. Its credibility is marked by correct prediction of recent Telangana Assembly elections where CPS had estimated TRS would get 88 -90 seats and the TRS indeed secured 88 seats. Even in 2009, the CPS predicted that the Congress party led by the then chief minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy would garner 159 seats and the Congress party won 156 seats in 294-member Assembly.
