Film Stars Shine In YSRCP  

Hyderabad: Film stars and anchors started moving in to YSR Congress Party fold. There has been a beeline of celebrities to the Party office where they were welcomed by Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy formalising their entry into the YSRCP.

Latest to join was the actor couple Jeevitha and Dr Rajasekhar who said that they returned to the Party after seeing the way YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has faced crisis after crisis valiantly and negated the claims of all his detractors who could not establish a single allegation.

YS Jagan's fighting spirit and the will to provide people’s welfare have inspired us to join the Party, they said. ‘We were critics of Jagan earlier but we have realised that we were wrong like all others and his fighting spirit has influenced us along with his welfare schemes,’ they told media after formally joining the Party.

It may be recalled that the couple were strong critics of film actor Chiranjeevi who floated Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) and merged it with Congress later.

Chiranjeevi’s younger brother Pawan Kalyan has floated Jana Sena Party and had supported TDP-BJP combine in 2014.

Anchor and film actor Shyamala along with her husband Narasimha Reddy joined the Party here on Monday. Veteran star and very vocal voice of Tollywood, Hema had also made it to the Party and all the actors expressed hope that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is a person Andhra Pradesh needs at this crucial hour. With Hema and the Rajasekhar-Jevitha couple, top producer, actor, director SV Krishna Reddy and Atchi Reddy also joined YSRCP. All of them recently won in the Movie Artistes Association (MAA) election in a single panel.

The previous day, veteran star Mohan Babu, who hails from Chandrababu's home district very critical of chief minister. He was very close to NTR and had produced the film Major Chandrakanth which was a runaway hit. He was with the TDP founder president during the thick and thin of his political career and had seen the developments of those days from very close quarters. Earleir, Pridhvi, popularly known as thirty year industry, had volunteered to join the YSR Congress Party and ever since has been campaigning for the Party. He was followed by veteran comedian and star anchor and presenter Ali, considered to be a close friend of Pawan Kalyan and the buzz was that he would be getting a TDP ticket, but he joined YSRCP.

Film star Nagarjuna and Heroine Raasi also met the Party President earlier, but it was described as a courtesy call. Veteran film star Jaya Sudha, ontemporary of Jaya Prada who is trying to regain her Rampur seat in Uttar Pradesh, also joined the Party. She was an ardent fan of Dr YS Rajasehara Reddy and won the Secunderabad Assembly seat in 2009.

Actor Krishnudu also joined the Party recently increasing the count of tinsel town celebrities in the Party. Top star Bhanu Chander joined YSRCP on the final day of Praja Sankalpa Yatra and expressed his support and solidarity to the Party. In between there are few others who made it to the Party wishing that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will be the next chief minister.

First to join the YSRCP was Vijay Chander, who portrayed the roles of Karunamayudu (Jesus Christ), Sir Shiridi Sai Baba, Andhra Kesari besides some thought provoking films like Sudigundalu and Maro Prapancham in 1970s, has been with the Party since its inception.

MLA RK Roja has been the incumbent of Nagari assembly constituency in Chittoor district has been the other old timer.
