Vijayawada Parliamentary Constituency is located in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. As per the estimates of 2011 census, out of total 2128486 population 42.72% is rural and 57.28% is urban population.

According to the voter list of 2018, there are 1331570 voters and 1639 polling stations in this constituency. Voter turnout in the 2014 Parliamentary election was 76.64% where as it was 77.61% in 2009 Parliamentary Election. The INC, the TDP and the YSRCP got 3.33%, 49.59% and 43.34% votes respectively in 2014-parliamentary election .

Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) (TDP) is the present Lok Sabha MP of Vijayawada Parliamentary Constituency. Kesineni defeated businessman Koneru Rajendra Prasad of the YSRCP in the 2014 polls.

For Lok Sabha polls 2019, the incumbent MP, Kesineni Srinivas aka Nani, will be pitted against YSRCP candidate Potluri Vara Prasad known as PVP an industrialist owner of PVP Ventures. Nani faces an uphill task as locals complain that he has done precious little for the city. Vijayawada, which has predominantly been dominated by the Kamma community, irrespective of which party they contest from, will also see a battle between two from the same community this time as well.

The ground reality in Vijayawada creates a challenge for Kesineni Nani. Drinking water facilities, civic amenities and pakka houses for the underprivileged are yet to materialize, though were a part of the many promises made in 2014.

Potluri Vara Prasad who is also from Vijayawada has studied here has spoken about inclusive development of the city, employment opportunities for the youth and expansion of the entertainment sector in the region. His agenda is to develop Vijayawada, he has repeatedly stated. Many locals are inclined to give him an opportunity.
