Evangelist KA Paul recently filed his nomination papers as the Praja Shanthi Party Narsapuram MP candidate. Paul claims to have floated the party in 2008 to save secular India . He had earlier alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had ignored the promises he gave during the 2014 elections , Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had utterly failed in all aspects, which is why he was contesting the 2019 Elections. Paul who is beileved to be Houston-based, and who has a very low visibility in the United States has suddenly come to the forefront of Andhra Pradesh politics through the new party and his antics. He made claims that he would spend Rs 100 Crores from his Christian Trust funds for the elections.

For those who have been following Paul closely, the choice of the Party symbol which is the helicopter and the party flag which bears the same colours as the YSR Congress Party seems to be a ploy to distract the voters. The helicopter looks similar to the Fan symbol of the YSRCP in some respects. It also tends to add to the confusion in the minds of the voters.

Looking at all this it seems to be a kind of well thought out strategy by Chandrababu Naidu to confuse, distract and befuddle the voters, so that the anti-TDP vote does not end up completely in YSRCP's bag.

Any split he reckons, would be to the TDP's advantage. It is widely believed that KA Paul has been let loose into the electoral fray by Chandrababu Naidu to upset the momentum of the YSRCP. Paul is dancing to the Chandrababu Naidu's tunes, analysts say. The TDP supremo hopes that some of the Dalit and Christian votes would be driven to KA Paul, which would again be to the benefit of TDP.

This entire game is being staged by Chandrababu it is believed, be it Jana Sena, its pact with BSP and Left parties, the TDP's understanding with the Congress which can be seen in the fact that the Congress was made to field Reddy and minority candidates in YSRCP's strongholds. KA Paul fits into the same larger plan of the TDP to cause a wider split in the anti-TDP vote. However, to what extent Paul can draw any votes at all, remains a question mark.
