Kishore, hailing from Adilabad has won a lawsuit of Rs 65,000 against Dadus Mithai Vatika

Adilabad: Kishore, hailing from Adilabad has won a lawsuit of Rs 65,000 against a popular sweet shop - Dadus Mithai Vatika in Secunderabad, for selling expired savouries.

The complainant told the forum that he purchased savouries worth Rs 6,000 in February for his daughter’s engagement ceremony. However, people who consumed them suffered from food poisoning and were admitted to the hospital. He then discovered that the food items dated back to January. Later, he was forced to spend Rs 10,000 to make for the lost items.

When he questioned the sweet shop for their error, Kishore said that his grievance was not addressed, following which he approached the forum. The forum has sent a food sample to the State Food Laboratory (SFL) which found it to be unsafe and hazardous to health. "Having sold stale eatable items, also chudwa and other eatable items emitting foul smell to the complainant, there is a deficiency of service on your part, "the forum stated.

However, a shop representative tried justifying that no other customer who purchased items during the same period had complained. Rajesh Dadu is the owner of the outlet and it also has two other chains being run at Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills.
