New Delhi: In a horrific incident, the mutilated body of an Aam Aadmi Party leader was found near a swamp allegedly dumped after he was murdered near outer Delhi’s Begumpur area on Monday.

The leader identified as Dhirendra Ishwar was the Purvanchal Wing district president of Aam Aadmi Party and had launched a yoga institute a fortnight ago. However, it had to be shut down due to some ongoing property issue, the police said.

According to police, Ishwar had left home around 6pm on Sunday evening to attend a get-together in west Delhi’s Nangloi area and had informed his wife around 7.30pm that he would start for home soon with an associate. But he never came back. He was allegedly stabbed multiple times, his genitals chopped off and his face smashed with a heavy object.

The police further added that locals found Ishwar’s defaced body near a swamp around 7am on Mondaymorning which is less than 100 metres away from his residence, and raised an alarm. Police teams rushed to the spot and Ishwar’s family was informed. His body was identified by his jacket, said the officer.

“The police have registered a case of murder and several persons have been questioned. The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination,” DCP (Outer) Vikramjit Singh said.

However, police is yet to ascertain the actual cause behind this horrific murder. Though an official said prima facie it is a case of personal enmity and the police haven’t ruled out the probability of hate crime.

The police is also yet to conclude whether Ishwar was killed near his house or was killed somewhere else and the body was dumped at the swamp near his house. Further probe is on in this murder case.
