Rape and Theft Cases on Rise in Telangana: Police

Hyderabad: In a serious set back to Telangana image, rape cases have registered a sharp growth in the state in 2015. DGP Anurag Sharma, at a press conference said overall crime against women has gone up in the state this year with 12,422 cases when compared to 11,784 in 2014.
On the other hand, the SHE teams – former for the safety of women, have given a sense of security to the women in the state. 825 eve-teasers were caught in around 660 cases.
Apart from the rise in the woman security cases, robbery and burglary cases too saw a rise in the year 2015.
Road accidents went up from 17,330 last year to 18,253 in 2015. The DGP says that six lakh calls out the 2.3 cr crore calls they got this year were of emergencies.
