6 States suffer condom shortage!!

* AP tops in condom usage* Suppliers unable to cope with demand Condom shortage? Yes.... At least six major states in India are facing acute shortage of condoms. Among the states is our very own Andhra Pradesh. Also, AP tops in the usage of condoms in the country. The other states are Haryana, UP, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and MP of Khajuraho fame. These condoms are meant to be supplied under Government's AIDS control programme to high risk populations. Bureaucratic wrangles are said to have delayed condom procurement. This shortage will be a huge setback to India's fight against HIV. India has the third largest number of persons with AIDS.Sources also said that the HLL lifecare, which supplies the condoms, is unable to cope with the demand.There is a shortage of HIV testing kits as well as anti-retroviral medicines, mainly pediatric drugs, across the country.
