Hyderabad: Making a point that everyone is equal before law and none will be spared, the south zone police conducted a special drive to crack down on the officials. As a result, 27 police officials were booked on Sunday in Falaknuma and Santoshnagar divisions for driving without a helmet
Incidentally, three sub inspectors were booked among 27 officials. The violators were made to pay Rs 100 as a penalty under section 129/177 of the MV Act. Meanwhile, a general diary entry was made as it was their first offence.
However, south zone DCP V. Sathyanarayana ruled strict action if they were to be found flouting norms again.
“If they repeat the offence a second time they will be given a charge memo, and the third time they will be recommended for suspension and departmental enquiry apart from fine. Home Guards will be removed from service if they violate helmet rules thrice," said Sathyanarayana.
