16-Year-Old Girl Gangraped In Vijayawada; 5 Arrested

Vijayawada: Five youths were arrested on Sunday for raping a 16-year-old girl while she was returning home after meeting her Facebook friends in the city.

The victim, who completed her SSC recently met Ajay and his friend Akhil on Facebook when she was in class 9. She used to meet them often and was in a physical relationship with Akhil for the past two years. On May 16 she met her friends and the three partied for some time and also consumed alcohol. The boys later dropped the girl at BRTS road at 8pm and they left.

At the time, five youths Srikanth, Pavan, Sunil, Abhishek and other person saw the girl and offered a lift to her home. The girl who was in hurry accepted the offer and they took the girl to Madhuranagar. The youth had alcohol and offered some to her and then gang raped her. Later they dropped the girl on the road at 7am on the next day.

The victim went to her grandparents’ home and told them about the rape. The girl's parents lodged a complaint with the police on the basis of the accused's bike number. Police registered a case and nabbed the offenders.
