Suspected Of Helping Her Brother Have Extra-Marital Dalliance, Woman Paraded Naked, Beaten

Mumbai: Eight persons were arrested in connection with an incident of parading a woman naked and assulting her. The ghastly incident occurred in Varngalwadi village of Beed district in Maharashtra on last Friday.

The police said the woman was beaten up in front of her husband on August 2 at their farm by three persons for allegedly playing cupid in an extra-marital dalliance in the village. The woman and her husband were let go after they sought forgiveness.

However, on August 4, when the woman's husband was away, five women and four men came to her house and assaulted her. They tore her clothes and paraded her naked in the village. On the way, she was beaten up with chappals. The accused suspected that the woman was helping her brother in having an affair with a woman, who belonged to the family of the accused.

A case was registered at Chaklamba Police Station in Georai taluka. Beed superintendent of police said eight persons were arrested and a teen girl, also involved in the assault, was sent to juvenile custody.
