The YSR Congress Party said that Chandrababu Naidu has been pursuing anti-Dalit policies and that the weaker sections were facing discrimination in Prakasam and other districts.

Speaking to reporters, party spokesperson Bathula Brahmananda Reddy charged Chandrababu Naidu with encouraging attacks on the Dalits. He said that In Devarapalli of Prakasam district, land that is being cultivated by the Dalits for the past 75 years was taken away by the Government in the name of digging a tank.

When YSRCP leaders, including MP YV Subba Reddy, district YSRCP president Balineni Srinivasa Rao, SC Cell president Meruga Nagarjuna and others visited the spot to take stock of the situtation, they were promptly arrested.

The issue was brought to the notice of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has instructed the district president Balineni Srinivas Reddy to ensure that the Dalits are not put to hardships. Party MP YV Subba Reddy has met SC Commission members in Delhi as well as Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to apprise them of the anti-Dalit moves of Chandrababu Naidu government,.

The seriousness of the situation can be gauged by the fact that the digging of the tank was undertaken with the help of a posse of policemen and the Dalits who were cultivating the land were kept at bay.
