YSRCP slams TDP’s mercantile agenda

Reiterating the party stand and the points raised by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Open Letter, YSR Congress has said that it has strong objection to the remarks of the TDP leaders. It said it firmly believes that the land was forcibly acquired and the extravaganza in the name of the state capital is totally uncalled for.

“Some of the TDP leaders have used a language which is shameful in a civil society and we condemn the remarks and the derogatory words. Besides extravaganza and mortgaging the Telugu pride to Singapore companies, the Chandrababu Naidu government is carrying out its commercial agenda which we are strongly opposing,’ party leaders Botsa Satyanarayana and Ummareddy Venkateswarlu told reporters  on Monday.

It was Dr. YS Rajsekhar Reddy who had the big heart to attend Chandrababu Naidu’s swearing-in ceremony at Raj Bhavan after the 1999 elections while the TDP President did not accompany Kiran Kumar Reddy to the Chair after he was elected speaker in 2004, he said brushing aside the remarks of intolerance which is on the contrary imbibed in TDP.

“We are not against the capital formation but are against the method in which the land is being pooled and the contracts are awarded. Chief Minister’s remark that the Leader of Opposition along with all the people of the state is invited to the programme shows the arrogance of the Chief Minister,” they said.

Chandrababu Naidu spending 30 minutes in private with his Telangana counterpart is quite understandable as the Andhra Pradesh chief minister is involved in the cash for vote scam. Going to KCR’s residence to invite him along with the cabinet ministers and having a one-to-one discussion raises doubts. It should come in the open as to what transpired between them, they said.

Another objectionable part in the foundation stone ceremony is that the question of sponsorship. Is it a commercial organization or a government that Chandrababu Naidu is running? How can there be a sponsor for a government programme that too with Prime Minister being among the invitees. This shows the commercial attitude of the TDP government, they said.

People taking objection to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s letter should know that the Leader of Opposition was not invited during the Bhumi Puja and it was made into a family affair. This jamboree is only to divert the attention of the people from the 17-month misrule as the government was concentrating only on capital formation, land acquisition and awarding contracts to Singapore companies and nothing else. The state has witnessed 638 suicides according to available data.

We are seeking appointment with the Prime Minister to press for the special status issue but we also demand that TDP should make a mention of it in full public view and seek an assurance from Narender Modi during his visit, he said.
