YSRCP slams TDP for intimidating tactics

Castigating TDP government for its authoritarian and undemocratic manner in which it is misusing official machinery in the local bodies elections, YSR Congress has said Chandrababu Naidu should stop such intimidating tactics failing which people will teach him a fitting lesson.

“It is scar on the face of democratic institution, the way TDP government has been resorting to manipulative politics to gain control in districts where it has no majority at all by using unfair means and misusing official machinery besides kidnapping, attacks, coercion and foisting false cases,” party MLA G Srikanth Reddy told reporters here on Sunday.

The way in which the vehicle of party spokesman Ambati Rambabu was attacked, the assault on YSRCP leader belonging to minorities, ill-treating women and all such untoward behavior on part of TDP shows that the Chief Minister wants to revive faction feuds and lawlessness in the region which was put to an end by YSR after he took over from TDP in 2004.

The motive of TDP seems to be to score a point whether or not they have a majority and the State government has been using authoritarian and ruthless methods to usurp majority if they lack the required numbers.

Such tactics could yield only short-term gains but they boomerang in the longer run and people will reject TDP for its efforts to slay democracy in full public view, he said. Raiding the guest house of YSR on flimsy pretext and postponing the Nellore elections only shows how low Chandrababu Naidu can stoop to.  In Prakasam district, the majority was cut down to evens and the lone member who could tilt the balance was arrested on false charges depriving him of the voting right.

In Jammalamadugu they have been creating havoc with the help of anti-social elements and a women ZPTC member of YSRCP was ill-treated in Nellore and a law and order problem was created to put off the elections.

“As our Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said we will go to any extent to save democracy and fight this injustice. If Naidu fails to stop these terror tactics people will teach a fitting lesson,” he said.
