Hyderabad: Slamming TDP for removing the statue of people’s leader YS Rajasekhara Reddy, YSRCP has termed it as a vicious act of TDP government. The Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is making an attempt to divert people’s attention from his failure on getting Special Status to AP.

The demolition of a 12-feet high bronze statue of former Chief Minister of united AP, late YS Rajasekhar Reddy at the police control room in Vijayawada by the authorities of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Saturday. The municipal officials this was as part of road widening. The removal of statue has triggered a major controversy across the State.

VSRCP MLA Srikanth Reddy and official spokesperson Parthasarathi spoke to the media at different places. They have demanded the restoration of the YS Rajasekhara Reddy statue in Vijayawada.

“If the TDP government doesn’t restore the statue, we’ll reinstall it. People worship YSR as God. YSR statue itself is a mark of Pulichintala project,” said Srikanth Reddy.

Chandrababu Naidu is intolerant of YSR statues in the State. YSR during his tenure in the united AP, never encouraged anyone to unintall the statues of other leaders including NTR. Didn’t YSR remove the NTR statues in Pamarru and Patamata, questions Parthasarathi. People in both the Telugu states are condemning the Chandrababu Naidu’s wishful act.

Lagadapati Rajagopal Foundation in 2011 installed the YSR statue during the Congress regime. The Foundation has obtained permission from the VMC.The VMC renamed the police control room centre as YSRC chowk after the statue installation.
