YSRCP road blockades bring Seemandhra to a standstill

Protesting against the GoM meeting, YSR Congress Party began a 48-hour road blockade on the national highways across the Seemandhra region on Wedensday.

Scores of YSRCP leaders and supporters organised the blockade in protest against the ‘undemocratic’ decision of the the Centre on the Telangana issue. Massive rallies involving heavy vehicles and tractors were held in many places raising their voice in support of Samaikyandhra. The protesters gathered at the toll gates on the all highways and blocked all the roads leading to neighboring States including Odisha, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu by staging a sit-in.
Meanwhile, thousands of YSRCP activists were taken into custody at various places when they held protests and squatted on the road disrupting the vehicular traffic in several districts. Police denied permission for the road blockade and made elaborate security arrangements on all the highways. According to reports, the agitation is peaceful in all the districts and no major incident of violence was reported from any part of the state.
West Godavari: In response to the call given by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, YSRCP activists organised a road blockade on the National-Highway 16 in the district.  The road blockade observed in many places including Vundi constituency, Tanuku, Tadepalligudem and Vungutur in the district.
Vijayawada: Police arrested YSRCP leader Gowtham Reddy and his supporters when he organised a road blockade in the city. Speaking to media, Gowtham Reddy said that arrests cannot stop the Samaikyandhra movement.The national highway between Vijayawada and Hyderabad was blocked at Gollapudi under the leadership of party's city convenor and former legislator Jaleel Khan.
Meanwhile, several supporters of Jagan squatted on the roads and blocked all the vehicles in Prakasam district. The protesters cooked food on the national-highway 5 at Trovagunta on the outskirts of Ongole. The activists blocked roads at Jaggaihpet, Nandigama, Tiuruvur, Mylavaram, Hanuman Junction and Gudivada and several other places in Krishna district.
Guntur: Police arrested YSRCP official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu when he participated in Rastaroko in Guntur.
In Kurnool, YSR district and Ananthapur districts, the protesters cooked food on roads, besides organising massive rallies and blocking roads.
