YSRCP MPs Protest in Parliament During PM’s Speech

New Delhi: YSR Congress Party MPs rushed to the well in Lok Sabha today even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was delivering his reply to motion of thanks address by President Ramnath Kovind in the Lok Sabha. The MPs were demanding Special Status to Andhra Pradesh and also asked for fulfillment of promises made to the people of Andhra Pradesh in the AP Reorganisation Act 2014.

On the other hand, TDP MPs withdrew their protest against the centre half hour before the PM started his speech. Expressing their dissent, the YSRCP MPs walked out of the Lok Sabha.

Earlier this morning, the MPs stormed into the well at the Lok Sabha as the session started and protested near the Speaker's podium, raising slogans and demanded justice for the state.

Meanwhile, addressing the Upper House, Rajya Sabha, YSRCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy demanded that the centre should grant Special Status to Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier, YSRCP MPs — YV Subba Reddy, Varaprasad Rao, Vijay Sai Reddy, YS Avinash Reddy, Midhun Reddy staged a protest displaying placards in front of the Gandhi statue at the Parliament premises. The YSRCP MPs also met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and submitted a memorandum urging the Centre to immediately fulfill the promises made to the state at the time of bifurcation. Several issues pertaining to AP, like setting up a Steel Plant, Dugarajupatnam, Polavaram, Vizag Railway Zone, Special Status were discussed in the meeting.
