New Delhi: The YSRCP lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India stating that the ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh was targeting opposition MLAs and trying to lure them by offering them huge amounts of money. After a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner, O.P. Rawat, YSRCP MP V. Vijay Sai Reddy told media persons here today that the AP government was indulging in rampant corruption and was indulging in political horse-trading by trying to buy over MLAs.

The YSRCP Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha also said that opposition MLAs were also being implicated in false cases foisted on them. He added that the ruling TDP was plotting to arrest some legislators around the time of Rajya Sabha polls. "The Telugu Desam Party has 'bought' 23 of the 67 MLAs from our party spending Rs. 10-20 crores on each legislator, and is desperately attempting to lure at least 4 other MLAs," he revealed. "It has come to our notice that each of these MLAs was offered Rs. 25 crores," he added.

Vijay Sai Reddy pointed out that all these facts were brought to the notice of the CEC. The YSRCP also demanded that Rajya Sabha elections be held in the joint capital of Hyderabad and sought the deployment of central forces for additional security to MLAs. He also said that the party requested the CEC to ensure that false cases are not foisted on its legislators and also sought the appointment of an observer for the RS polls.

"Chandrababu Naidu was involved in the notes-for-votes case in the past and therefore, the Centre needs to keep a close watch on the AP government's unconstitutional acts," Vijay Sai Reddy said.
