YSRCP Demands Water To Parched Rayalaseema Region

Chandrababu has neglected all irrigation projects conceived by YSR to address water crisis in Rayalaseema districts

Kadapa: YSR Congress Party has set a week's deadline for the Andhra Pradesh government on the issue of release of water to KC canal and Telugu Ganga projects, which address the irrigation and drinking water needs of the farmers of Rayalaseema districts.

YSR Congress MLAs Raghurami Reddy,Ravindranath Reddy and MP Avinash Reddy met the district collector and submitted a memorandum demanding the immediate release of water. The leaders said that water levels in Srisailam have reached 870 feet mark and the available water will meet the demands. They also demanded that the government construct a reservoir at Rajoli to utilise the water that going waste from Kunduru. At least 40 TMC of water was going waste through Somasila project, they pointed out.

The YSR Congress leaders said the then Chief minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy had laid a foundation stone at Rajoli for a reservoir in 2008 ,but no works have been taken up. They alleged that Chandrababu has neglected all irrigation projects conceived by YSR to address water crisis in Rayalaseema districts. The YSRCP leaders have warned the Government of launching a massive agitation if water was not rleased within a week.
