Hyderabad: The YSR Congress party has demanded that the details of the promises made during the previous two phases of Janmabhoomi be placed on public domain, and took objection to the circular seeking donations from students for the capital formation; even as the extravagance of the government continued unabated.

“Even as lakhs of applications that have been received during the previous two phases of Janmabhoomi programme lie pending, the government has taken up the next phase, reducing the affair to a mere formality”, party leader Botsa Satyanarayana told reporters here on Tuesday.

“We demand that the state keep all the applications received on public domain and update them with the action taken thereon: be it sanction of ration cards, pensions or other issues. This will give it transparency and let people know the state of governance”, he said.

Taking objection to the circular issued to collect donations, of not less than Rs. 10, from all students and teachers for the capital formation, he said “while the fees reimbursement scheme has been diluted it is ridiculous on part of the government to collect donations from the students.”

“The state on its part has not been observing austerity measures and has been continuing its extravagant lifestyle by using chartered fights and using huge amounts on such unproductive means. This apart, corruption is rampant owing to the faulty policies of the state”, he said.

“The state has increased the price of sand many times but when the hike did not reflect this in the revenue accruals, the government said that there was misappropriation of revenue and went back to the old system. This shows how money was stashed away in various projects and faulty policies”, he said.

“We demand that the fate of the assurances given in the previous phases of Janmabhoomi be placed on public domain and the collection of money from students be stopped. The government should stop extravagant spending and take up austerity measures instead”, he said.
