Demanding a judicial inquiry into Sunday's boat mishap in Krishna River that claimed 22 lives, the YSRCP said that the Chandrababu Naidu government was trying to shield the persons responsible for the tragedy and shift the blame on others.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, party spokesperson K Parthasarathi said the Government has already diverted the issue and is trying to shield the culprits. "It is the irrigation minister, who is responsible as his ministry as conservator of rivers. But, the government projected it as a tourism related issue. The irrigation department has to supervise and certify the safety norms for any navigation on the river front," he said.

The irrigation minister has been getting his share of the cake and hence the issue was being buried and is being projected as the failure of the boat driver and the owner. "How did the irrigation department allow the boat to ferry tourists is the first question," he asked.

He said the TDP Government has emerged as the most corrupt dispensation in the country and demanded that a judicial inquiry be ordered into the boat mishap.
