YSRCP demands all party meet on retail policy

Demanding an all party meeting on the proposed retail policy of the TDP government which is aimed at widely opening the doors for FDI, YSR Congress has said that the TDP Government has given festival gift to the people of the state by increasing the bus fares on par with private bus operators.

"TDP has abstained from voting in Parliament when the FDI in retail sector Bill was tabled and now its policy is clearly slanted towards inviting private players in the retail segment and such important decisions are being taken unilaterally, party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here on Tuesday.

Though the Centre has given the option of rejecting the FDI in retail sector, Chandrababu Naidu has been in the forefront, always when it comes to inviting foreign capital at the cost of local retailers and we oppose the policy tooth and nail.

"We demand the State to convene an All Party Meeting on the retail policy of the State and such decisions affecting the people cannot be taken unilaterally," she said.

Despite Chandrababu Naidu hiking the bus fares abnormally, instead of fixed rates, RTC is collecting floating rates and is competing with private operators to cash on the heavy festival rush. The ticket to Vizag which in ordinary days would be available for Rs 600 is now sold at Rs 2,000 which shows the inefficiency of the government, she said.
