YSRCP asks govt to spell stand on fee reimbursement

The YSRCP has demanded a categorical stand from the State Government on the vexatious subject of fee reimbursement as its GO has been creating confusion and may not stand the test of legal scrutiny.

This could result in the loss of an academic year to the students, the party said in a press release.“If the State is not willing to continue the fee reimbursement scheme, it can openly spell out its stand and need not take recourse to various clauses of the GO. Some student organizations are contemplating challenging the GO in a court which will further delay the academic year,” party spokesperson, Gattu Ramachandra Rao told reporters here on Wednesday.
The Government has made its intention very clear that it does not want to continue the fees reimbursement scheme started by YSR and has been evasive on the subejct, he said.
"The clauses of the GO are contradictory and are not in the best interests students from the weaker sections aspiring to pursue higher studies", he said adding that the clauses of the GO should be amended to facilitate students to get fee reimbursement.
“If the State is against the implementation of the scheme, it can openly declare its stand of shelving the scheme and bring clarity among the students, parents and political parties,” he said.
Expressing the Party’s solidarity with the struggle of the disabled who are demanding a sub-plan, he pointed out that during the plenary itself, the YSRCP had decided that the pension should be increased to Rs 700 or Rs 1,000. The TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu during his nine-year tenure as CM, had increased the pension of the disabled from Rs 50 to Rs 75 while the late Dr. YSR had increased it from Rs 75 to Rs 500 during his five- year term, he added.
The Party also paid rich tributes to Gidigu Rama Murthy on his birth anniversary for his sterling contribution to Telugu language and for enriching its literature.
