YSR death cripples welfare schemes in State: Sharmila

Many developmental and welfare schemes came to a grinding halt after the demise of YS Rajasekhar Reddy in the State, said Sharmila, YSRCP leader.

Addressing a huge crowd at Chunduru in Nalgonda district as part of “Maro Praja Prasthanam,” she said the irrigation projects were in a standstill position. The SLBC tunnel project would have been completed if YSR was alive.  She recalled that there was no RTC fare hike during his tenure from 2004 to 2009 and power tariff was too untouched.

About 47 lakhs houses were built during YSR regime, now the Kirankumar Reddy Government should explain how many houses were built later.  Sharmila came down heavily on the Kiran Government as it was paying deaf ear towards the people’s problems. The poor were totally ignored and on the other hand the government was imposing taxes indiscriminately. The ministers themselves lost confidence on the government, she said adding that the people were badly suffered due to its inaction.

Sharmila said it was YSR who had announced an ex gratia of Rs 1 lakh to the families of toddy tappers in the event of accidental deaths.  She expressed her deep concern over the plight of cotton growers, who were resorting to suicides  due to lopsided policies of the Kiran Government.
