YS Jagan Slams TDP Govt For Harassing Villagers Opposed To Mega Aqua Food Park At Tundurru

Tanuku: YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday criticized the TDP government for anti-people measures. He slammed Chandrababu Naidu for resorting to harassment of villagers, who're opposing Mega Aqua Food Park in Tundurru. The TDP Government is filing illegal cases against farmers and other sections of people for opposing the Mega Acqua Food Park, said YS Jagan.

YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made a visit to Areti Satyavathi, who fought against Mega Acquafood Park and has been remanded to Tanuku subjail.

Taking to mediapersons after meeting Satyavathi, YS Jagan asked: "What's crime did Areti Satyavathi commit? How can the TDP government booked cases against Satyavathi and others for opposing Mega Aqua Food Park, which will cause pollution and damage agricultural fields. The TDP government has filed attempt-to-murder cases against seven persons for opposing the setting up of the factory. Is it justifiable act by any stretch of imagination?"

YS Jagan as part of his district tour, is visiting Mega Acqua Food-hit areas in West Godavari district. YS Jagan interacted with farmers in Tundurru village in Bhimavaram mandal. Later, YS Jagan also visited Athili, Palakoderu and Bhimavaram and spoke to farmers and the general public, who're opposing Mega Aqua Food Park.

While giving assurance to the farmers of party's full support, YS Jagan said: "Chandrababu Naidu is creating at atmosphere of terror among the villagers and is trying to drive a wedge between the villages." Listing three major follies of Chandrababu, he said giving permission despite people's opposition, booking attempt-to-murder cases against those opposing the Food Park and imposing Section 144 in the area were wrong and undemocratic."

Recalling the plight of villagers because of Delta Paper Mill, YS Jagan alerted the people about similar problems if Mega Aqua Food Park becomes a reality. "Naidu is turning a deaf ear to villagers. If as claimed by Chandrababu, there is no pollution from the Food Park, then why is a pipeline constructed to release the effluents into the sea. What happens if there is a pipeline leak,"he asked.

Areti Satyavathi is one among many who're fighting against Mega Aqua Food Park. Satyavathi is in Tanuku subjail for the last 36 days. Police arrested Satyavathi on charges of provoking the people to fight against the Food Park. Satyavathi was booked under Section 307 of the IPC on charges of an attempt-to murder case. Her son and six more persons have been remanded to Narsapuram subjail.
