Machilipatnam: Addressing a massive rally at Buddhalavaripalem in Krishna district on Thursday YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy blasted the ruling TDP government’s insensitive attitude towards farmers in the coastal district.

While clarifying that he was not opposed to the Bandar port project, YS Jagan questioned the rationale and the methods adopted by the AP government in taking away the lands of poor farmers.

Why is it that Chandrababu Naidu, who was against the allotment of 5,200 acres to Bandar Port in 2012, now demanding 30,000 acres for it and on what basis is this being increased to 1.05 lakh acres he questioned.

Massive response to YS Jaga’s meet in Buddhalavaripalem

Not only is their land being snatched away from them but the helpless farmers have neither being given farm loans nor water for irrigation from the rivers, YS Jagan said. The government even barred them from selling their own lands by denying them land registrations in the area, he said.

YS Jagan criticized the unjust deal that is being meted out to the farmers where the government wanted to allot them 1500 square yard plot for an acre of land and a promise to pay the farmers a meager Rs.30,000 per acre per year for ten years, when the fertile land was yielding them two rice crops every year.

You need to hold on to your land for only another two years, said YS Jagan when the corrupt Chandrababu Naidu government would make way for a people’s government, he said.
