Youth Rescues Friends, Drowns Accidentally In Dam

Vizianagaram: A 19-year-old youth drowned on Thursday while swimming in a dam with his friends in Parvatipuram.

Praveen Kumar, a native of Janashakti colony in Parvatipuram was pursuing BSc (Agriculture) in Lovely Professional University in Punjab. He came to the village during vacation and confirmed his return flight tickets on June 10. On Thursday Praveen went out to Janjavathi dam along with his friends Sai, Harish, Sai Bharath and Vishal.

All of them went to lower side of the dam for swimming. Meanwhile, four of them from the group started sinking into the water as they did not know how to swim. Praveen rescued his friends and accidentally fell into the water and drowned. The guards at the dam recovered the body from the water. The police registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem.

Praveen had a dream to become an IAS officer and he also adopted his friend at the university as his elder brother as he lost his parents in an accident.
