Yet Another Trouble On UoH Campus: Student Groups Clash Over Rohith’s Mother Visits Una Dalit Rally

Hyderabad: Yet another trouble broke out on Hyderabad Central University campus as two student groups criticized each other over the deceased research scholar Rohith Vemula’s mother Radhika Vemula’s visit to Una in Gujarat. The clash started with the ABVP commenting on her visit saying that she has used luxurious transport facilities for her travel to Una for a Dalit rally on Independence Day.

ABVP leader Surya Pratap Singh said, “Late Dalit scholar’s mother was using `luxurious’ transport facilities to travel to Una and accused Rohith’s brother of seeking a government job.”

ABVP also issued a statement against joint action committee (JAC) for social justice on intensifying its movement on Rohith. “The JAC should adhere to its own principle of rights by accepting and practicing the fountainhead of all rights. If you can criticize, others have the right to disagree and condemnation is not defamation,” the statement read.

Giving it a counter, JAC members said that despite Radhika Vemula was admitted in Yashoda hospital she decided to travel to Una expressing her solidarity with the Dalit community in Gujarat.

“As a matter of fact, Radhika Vemula was admitted in Yashoda hospital. The very fact that justice for her son is delayed despite the release of National SC Commission report has had a damaging effect on her health. Despite her deteriorating health condition, she decided to go to Una to express solidarity with the Dalit community in Gujarat,” JAC issued statement.
