Yerran death: APSHRC seeks ambulance report

Following an allegation that senior TDP leader K Yerran Naidu, who was killed in a road mishap, died due to non-availability of first-aid equipment and oxygen facility in the ambulance, the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission today sought a report from the health authorities.

An advocate Dhangopal filed a petition in APSHRC alleging that the ambulance of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), in which Naidu was shifted to a hospital following the accident, was not equipped with oxygen facility and the first-aid equipment. He (Naidu) could have survived if these facilities were provided in the ambulance, the petitioner asserted.
Following the petition, the Commission sought a report from Srikakulam District Medical Health Officer (DMHO) and NHAI director in this regard by December 12.
Naidu, a four-time MP from Srikakulam died and five of his aides were injured when the four-wheeler in which they were travelling, hit an oil tanker at Ranasthalam in Srikakulam district in the wee hours, yesterday.
