Hyderabad: In a continued crackdown on restaurants by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), another restaurant - Y2K Restaurant at Punjagutta was sealed after finding stale food and unhygienic kitchen. The restaurant is located on the main road near the traffic police station at Punjagutta and was raided on Tuesday afternoon.

Food inspector E. Sudharshan Reddy said that restaurant was preparing food without health trade licence. The official added that earlier too they raided the restaurant and issued a notice after imposing penalty.

One of the regular patron expressed shock after coming to know that it has been sealed, saying, "I drop by daily here for lunch and it is disturbing that low quality food was served to us."

GHMC health officer V. Ramana said the restaurant is not maintaining standards and is visible as walls are freckled with grease from several months.

“Raw meat is allowed to be kept inside the freezer. But the cooked meat is only allowed one day storage but here they have been keeping it for more than three days. The food has a bad smell, it’s rotten,” he added.

Apart from Y2K Restaurant, other food outlets on Almas Palace in Jubilee Hills, Papadams in Vanasthalipuram, Maharaja Restaurant and Bar, Mount Paradise Bar & Family Restaurant and Sri Siddhi Udupi Tiffin & Restaurant were imposed huge fines.
