Singer Selena Gomez who enjoyed being the most popular female celebrity on Instagram no longer holds the position.

Taking over Selena is Singer Ariana Grande, who now has 146,286,173 followers on the photo-sharing site. The Back To You hitmaker is a close second with 146,267,801 followers.

In the last four months, Grande's Instagram followers increased by nearly 13 million, thanks to her latest album release, Thank U, Next.

Grande has over 61 million followers on Twitter as well. So far, soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo is the most followed person on Instagram with over 155 million followers.

It is not surprising that Ariana Grande's followers are increasing by the day as the singer is active on the grid and has double the posts Gomez does on her Instagram. The Bang Bang singer posts Instagram stories multiple times on a regular basis.

Also, she has been promoting her projects on the platform. Selena, on the other hand, announced that she was taking a social media break During the end of 2018, the singer sought treatment for her mental health.
