The flexi at Ravindra Bharati translates Hon’ble into some strange word

Hyderabad: Ironies happen in life, and they happen more frequently with governments. Here’s one of a rare and ridiculous kind!

A flexi put up by the state government welcoming the lovers of Telugu language for the World Telugu Conference to be held from December 15 to 19 here has a glaring error. The flexi which is printed in Telugu, has a strange word for the translated version of 'Hon'ble'. It is commonplace to find such errors on Aadhaar and other government issued certificates, where English words in names and addresses are transcripted into Telugu resulting in strange words and humorous meanings.

This kind of a gaffe can be avoided if only such work is properly supervised. While the Telangana government claims that the World Telugu Conference is the first of its kind and is being conducted on a grand scale, such errors reflect on the state’s commitment for the language. Worse, it’s on a flexi put up to invite experts and lovers of Telugu language. This would be more of a spoiler than anything else and defeats the very purpose it is meant to serve.
