Leader of the Opposition and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that womenfolk were ready to teach Chandrababu Government a fitting lesson as it had done nothing for them. Addressing a largely-attended women's conclave at Hussainapuram in Kurnool district on Monday, he said not one of the promises made by Chandrababu Naidu in his election manifesto has been fulfilled. Promises like DWCRA loan waiver and zero interest loans have been ignored. The women were facing lot of problems due to the menace of liquor and the TDP Government was only working towards selling more liquor and get more revenue. YS Jagan said that once the YSRCP comes to power, prohibition would be introduced in four phases and the state would be completely rid of the menace of liquor.

He said the economic status of families would improve only when the children are able to access quality education and become competent professionals. To enable this, YSRCP would ensure that fee reimbursement scheme is fully implemented. In addition, mothers of college-going children would be given Rs 20000 per year to take care of other expenditure. Mothers who send their wards to schools would be given another Rs 15000 per student, he pointed out. YS Jagan further said that when the People's Government is formed, the pension amount would be hiked to Rs 2000 and the pensionable age for beneficiaries of welfare pensions would be reduced to 45. He said his concept of village secretariat would ensure that every house-less would get a house and every eligible person gets his pension without having to pander to TDP-sponsored partisan Janma Bhoomi Committees.

Earlier, there was tension in Hussainapalli when the police have cancelled permission for holding the women's meet. The police also arrested in various parts of the constituency to thwart the meet. Reports say that there was pressure on the police from few ministers too. Several women leaders of the YSRCP have been taken into custody.
