Hyderabad: Women in Andhra Pradesh are facing injustice, atrocities and humiliation on a daily basis in the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) administered state, YSRCP MLA RK Roja said.

Addressing the media here on Saturday, she said everyday there are incidents of harassment and atrocities against women in the state. "The Anantapur incident where a woman was harassed by TDP leader Payavula Keshav's henchmen for not parting with her land is the latest in a series of crimes against women. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu promised prohibition in the state when he took office in 2014. However, the CM issued a GO which permits wine shops and bars to operate till 1 am. Is this the way to keep the promise made to women folk in the state?" Roja asked. Failure to implement prohibition is deceiving the women, she said.

Similarly, the TDP election manifesto stated that Rs 30,000 would be deposited in the name of every newborn and also Rs 10,000 for the nutrition requirements of pregnant women, Roja told the audience while adding that none of these promises were fulfilled till date.

An amount of Rs 14,204 crore is sufficient to wipe out all the loans of DWCRA women in the state, MLA Roja said and added that it is only a percentage of the money looted by TDP leaders in the name of welfare programmes.
