Aler: It's a commonplace affair nowadays for girls to hold protests or deekshas in front of their boyfriends' houses if they go back on their promise to marry. Most of the time, boys move on from a relationship, leaving the girl high and dry. They tend to settle for a marriage to a girl chosen by their parents.

Here's a different case altogether. Rekha, daughter of Beesu Satyanarayana and Aruna of Jamachetlabavi in Motkuru mandal, got married to a man from Siripuram of Janagam mandal some time back against her wishes. As it turns out, she was already in a relationship with Shivaram of Raghavapuram in Atmakur (M) mandal.

After marriage, Rekha disclosed her love affair to her husband and insisted on going back to her previous boyfriend. Distressed and helpless, her husband sent her back to her parents' house. After deserting her husband, the woman approached her lover and asked him to marry her. But Shivaram, who was already heart broken when she got married, refused to have any relationship with her. As she insisted on marriage and created a scene at his house, Shivaram went absconding to escape from Rekha.

On Wednesday, Rekha went to Shivaram's house and staged a mounadeeksha or silent protest demanding marriage to her lover. As Shivaram was not at home, his parents lodged a police complaint following which the cops shifted the woman to the police station. The police counselled her to leave the man alone. Rekha threatens to commit suicide if Shivaram rejects her.
